Everyone is welcome at the LC Bibliographic Framework Initiative Update Forum, Sunday, June 30 at 10:30 am, McCormick Place Convention Center E352 (see full description below under June 30).  Roberta I. LC Bibliographic Framework Initiative Update Forum, McCormick Place Convention Center, E352.
10:30 am-12:00 pm. (see speaker list below)

The Bibliographic Framework Initiative (BIBFRAME) is a major community challenge to provide an alternative to the deeply embedded MARC formats that will be more compatible with the Web and Internet environment that offers new opportunities to leverage information. The program speakers will address multiple facets of BIBFRAME development -- how it fits into the major thrusts of Library of Congress programs and how it will attempt to span the different data models of the library and related communities.  Two institutions that are experimenting with the general BIBFRAME model have been asked to report, along with a discussion of its relationship to schema.org (the recent search engine attempt at standardization).
