For the Chicago Tribune, Spektral performances are “high-energy thrill rides for musically inquisitive listeners.” A few current projects include a cycle of the complete quartets of Arnold Schoenberg and new commissions by Anna Thorvaldsdottir, David Fulmer and Miguel Zenón. Adventurous and inventive, Spektral partners with the fine pianist Winston Choi, in a pair of back-to-back concerts with two intriguing menus. Spektral’s second performance includes Library-commissioned pieces by Milton Babbitt and Schoenberg, as well as an early quartet of Schoenberg—all pieces held in the Library’s collections.
