FIELD DEFINITION AND SCOPE
Call number and other information added to a bibliographic record by the National
Agricultural Library (NAL) that relates to second copies or sets of the described item
that are in its collections.

■ INDICATORS
- Both indicator positions are undefined; each contains a blank (#).
■ SUBFIELD CODES
$a - Classification number Classification number portion of the NAL call number. Prior to 1965, NAL used a
USDA library classification scheme. In 1965 NAL began using the Library of
Congress Classification for all newly-cataloged materials. Both schemes
are still used. Subfield $a is repeated to record alternative
classification numbers.
$b - Item number NAL item number.
$c - Copy information Information relating to second and subsequent copies or sets.
$8 - Field link and sequence number
CONTENT DESIGNATOR HISTORY
Indicator 2 - Series call number (SE) [OBSOLETE]
In the serials specifications, the use of the second indicator position to indicate
the type of series was made obsolete in 1976. The values were: 0 (No series
involved), 1 (Main series), 2 (Subseries), 3 (Sub-subseries).
