Information about the results of a matching process, intended to assist catalogers in the verification of a possible match between two records.
$a - Matching information
A term, code, or identifier, identifying the matching process which processed the records. A subprocess may be added.
$b - Status of matching and its checking
Information about the status of the matching, which may be given in coded form.
$c - Confidence value
Describes the confidence of the matching process assigned by the institution.
$d - Generation date
Date on which the matching information was generated. This also serves as the beginning of the period of validity. Date is recorded in the format yyyymmdd in accordance with ISO 8601, Representation of Dates and Times.
$w - Record control number
System control number of the possibly matching record preceded by the MARC code, enclosed in parentheses, for the agency to which the control number applies. See MARC Code List for Organizations for a listing of sources used in MARC 21 records.
$x - Nonpublic note
Note pertaining to the matching process that is not displayed to the public.
$z - Public note
Note pertaining to the matching process that is displayed to the public.
$0 - Authority record control number or standard number
Control number or standard number of the possibly matching record.
