Ebraille Equipment

A team at NLS is working with Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Mass., on a pilot program to use braille displays to read NLS materials. Legislation allowing the use of playback equipment in all formats, including braille displays, was signed into law Friday, July 29, 2016. Under the pilot, Perkins will purchase 200 Orbit Reader 20 machines for their patrons. NLS will record the users’ experiences with the devices, circulation issues, and repair issues to determine how NLS will support new people using braille readers that it provides.

In the meantime, there is commercially available braille equipment that supports NLS materials.
