This lithographic print depicts St. James Episcopal Church in Muncy, PA, designed by Richard Upjohn & Co. Architects in 1856 and built between 1857-59. The print is on machine made paper with black and grey-green printing inks; two register marks at the bottom left and right corners suggest the green-grey background tone was printed from a separate block from the black line block.
By the time this print entered the Library’s collection, it had water and light damage, extensive staining, and bore a heavy layer of sooty surface dirt.
The goals of the treatment were to remove the soiling, diminish the appearance of stains, and to reinforce the weaknesses in the paper and fill any areas of loss.
