During the National World War II Reunion, held May 27-30, 2004, volunteer interviewers traveled up and down the Mall with hand-held tape recorders, capturing the stories of the World War II veterans attending the festivities. These interviews were brief and impromptu, and because of this, vary from
the standard model of interviews that VHP accepts.

Voices of a Generation: the National World War II Reunion and the Man-on-the-Mall Recordings." These recordings present not only the experiences of these veterans, but also the spirit of the National World War II Reunion. Selected interviews are featured below: they capture memories of battle, heroic moments, stark realizations about the realities of war, and much-needed comic relief as told by the men and women who were there.
