TargetInfo key in Explain

Issue raised by: Alan Kent, 21 Nov 95

Synopsis:
In Explain, targetInfo has a key (target name). Since there is only one targetInfo record per explain database, why? And must a query include an operand with Use attribute targetName and term = target name?

Response:
There should generally be only a single TargetInfo record for a given Explain database. If the record were instead designated to have "no key" (as is the case for category list), this point would be clearer.
But given the fact that there is a key, it could be useful for allowing the client to ascertain that it in fact connected to the right target, or is accessing the right Explain database.
In response to the second question, to search for the (single) TargetInfo record in an Explain database, a query need not include an operand with Use attribute targetName and term = target name. A single operand with Use attribute ExplainCategory and term = 'TargetInfo' is sufficient.
