Some discussion of name took place at Bath. Timeline - meeting Sun - Wed., hope to have most of core function specified - Discussed role of ATS - 1. New profile is not constrained to allow all vendors to claim conformance. ATS-1 is referenced in several profiles so it cannot be discarded. However, these profiles will reference the new profile. DRA is willing to drop ATS profile.

Z-Thes - was discussed. Issue of Scan was raised without resolution. Add to future work - alternative term name for display and for search. Add server-suggested attributes for search.

Bib - 2: 2nd draft has functional qualifier distinguish numbers and identifiers using attribute developers guide. Added cross-domain (XD) access point references.

Will need to better define how semantic qualifiers relate to content authorities and how to tell which something is. Lennie will offer a definition/distinction to the ZIG list.

OPAC/Holdings Schema

-Removal of MFHL record

-Addition of counts of:

# Of locations

# Of copies/location

# Of bib units/copy

# Of physical units/bib unit

# Of pieces/copy

# Of physical units/piece

Discussion of proper relationship between pieces and bibliographic unit which was passed off to an evening subcommittee meeting.

Will add level of service information. Will add link of profile document to schema document.

E-Spec-Q

Will add some prose explaining its use and how it relates to e-spec-1. E-Spec-q should not be returned if the next element ESN is used. Discussion of how to use next element ESN, where to break; finally decided to do away with next holdings ESN and to now require version 3.

OPAC/Holdings renamed to Holdings

After much discussion, withheld decision on whether or not to remove bib record from schema.

Searching serials and multiparts and Holdings Attribute Set - taken together. Add primary and alternate as functional qualifiers on enumeration and on chronology. Two documents will be merged into a single one. Removed restrictions that bib search cannot be done solely with holding attributes. Remove attributes that are redundant to utility attribute set.

Attribute Set Developers Guide

Reviewed by Ray, asked for feedback to give to Janet. Suggestion to delete the sections on protocol maintenance. An over view of the process with a summarization of the steps may be helpful. Strength is that it sets out a logical thought process but seems to make it look harder than it is. Question raised about how to recommend an attribute is considered for inclusion in utility or XD set. Request for definition of terms.

Look to endorsement of a final draft at next meeting.

Search from Scan:

Addresses problem of how the server can give detailed information with scan to inform the client of how best to do this. Question about model relationship to multiserver query - decided not a problem. Suggest use of a Z39.50 URL instead. This was original idea. Suggestion to collapse two of the scenarios into one. Long discussion of the multi-response single term without resolution. Lennie suggested revitalization of clarification on use of returned attributes. Noted that response for display of terms may not be good for follow - on search. Suggestion to replace server address, port, database name with a Z39.50s URL.
