<archdescgrp> Archival Description Group

Description:

A wrapper element used only within <eadgrp> in the EAD Group Document Type Definition. The <archdescgrp> summarizes the content, context, and extent of the archival materials described in separate EAD documents bundled within the <dscgrp> subelement. The <archdescgrp> may contain all data elements available in <archdesc>, except for <dsc>; the <dscgrp> subelement fills the role of <dsc>. As with <archdesc>, a Descriptive Identification <did> element is required to appear in <archdescgrp> before presenting more detailed descriptions in such elements as <bioghist>.
