Fields 245-270 contain titles and address information associated with community events, programs, etc.

245 - TITLE (NR)

The title of the event, program, etc. being described.

Indicators

• First - Undefined
  • # - Undefined
• Second - Nonfiling characters
  A value that specifies the number of character positions associated with a definite or indefinite article (e.g., Le, An) at the beginning of a title that are disregarded in sorting and filing processes.
  • 0-9 - Number of nonfiling characters

Subfield Codes

• $a - Title (NR)
• $b - Remainder of title (NR)
• $c - Remainder of field data (NR)
  Any remaining data that are not more appropriately contained in another subfield.
• $h - Medium (NR)
  A media qualifier.
• $n - Number of part/section of the title (R)
• $p - Name of part/section of the title (R)

246 - VARYING FORM OF TITLE (R)

A variant form of the title of the even, program, etc. present in field 245. Variant forms of names recorded in 1XX (Primary Names), 6XX (Subject Entries,) and 7XX (Added Entries) are not recorded in this field. Access to these variants is usually provided in MARC authority record 4XX (See From Tracing) fields.

• First - Undefined
  • # - Undefined
• Second - Type of title
  A value that indicates the relationship of the title contained in field 246 with the title in field 245. The value also controls the generation of a note and an associated display constant.
  • 0 - Portion of title
    No note is usually generated.
  • 1 - Parallel title
    The 245 title in another language. No note is usually generated.
  • 2 - Acronym
    Acronym: may be generated for display.
  • 3 - Other title
    A title that is not more appropriately indicated by one of the other values. Other title: may be generated for display.

• $a - Title proper/short title (NR)
• $b - Remainder of title (NR)
• $f - Date or sequential designation (NR)
  Dates or sequential designations that indicate when the variant title was used.
• $g - Miscellaneous information (NR)
  Information such as (varies slightly) that is not more appropriately contained in another subfield.
• $h - Medium (NR)
• $n - Number of part/section of the title (R)
• $p - Name of part/section of the title (R)

247 - FORMER TITLE (R)

A title used prior to the field 245 title. An introductory phrase such as Former Title: is not carried in the MARC record. It may be generated for display.

270 - ADDRESS (R)

An address (as well as electronic access data such as telephone, fax, TTY, etc. number) associated with the community information. Multiple addresses, such as a mailing address and address corresponding to the physical location of a resource or facility, are recorded in separate occurrences of field 270.

Indicators

• First - Level
  A value that specifies the level of the address which distinguishes between primary and additional (secondary) addresses.
  • # - No level specified
  • 1 - Primary
  • 2 - Secondary
• Second - Type of address
  A value that specifies the type of address for cases when identification of the type is needed at the field level.
  • # - No type specified
  • 0 - Mailing
  • 7 - Type specified in subfield $i

• $a - Address (R)
  Includes information that no address is available. Subfield $a repeatability permits multiline display of the address.
• $b - City (NR)
• $c - State or province (NR)
• $d - Country (NR)
• $e - Postal code (NR)
• $f - Title preceding attention name (NR)
• $g - Attention name (NR)
• $h - Title following attention name (NR)
• $i - Type of address (NR)
  Subfield $i is the first subfield in the field when no subfield $6 is present.
• $j - Specialized telephone number (R)
  A service number other than the administrative or other number contained in subfield $k, $l, or $n (e.g., a hotline number).
• $k - Telephone number (R)
  Includes information that no telephone number is available.
• $l - Fax number (R)
• $m - Electronic mail address (R)
• $n - TDD or TTY number (R)
• $p - Contact person (R)
  Subfield $p is not used if the contact person is named in subfield $g.
• $q - Title of contact person (R)
• $r - Hours (R)
  An indication of the hours that access to the address, contact, and/or telephone numbers is available.
• $z - Public note (R)
• $4 - Relator code (R)
  A MARC code that specifies the relationship between the information in field 270 and the item described in the record. Code from: MARC Code Lists for Relators, Sources, Description Conventions
