INPUT CONVENTIONS

Field of activity is required for a person whose name consists of a phrase or appellation not conveying the idea of a person. For other persons, field of activity is required when needed to distinguish a person from another person with the same name.

The field includes subfield $2 so that if a controlled vocabulary is used, the source of the term used can be recorded.

Subfields for for dates (start period and end period) have also been included as the data recorded in the field may change over time. Subfield $a is repeatable and subfields $s and $t are non repeatable as a person or corporate body may have more than one field of activity at a time. If this varies over time, the field is repeated.
