The gender with which a person identifies. RDA instructs cataloguers to choose from the following list: female, male, unknown.

Subfield 2 is included to allow for specifying the source of a controlled vocabulary (e.g. RDA list, ISO ISO/IEC 5218 “Information technology -- Codes for the representation of human sexes”).
