FIELD DEFINITION AND SCOPE

Records the language code and source of code representing the language used by a person or corporate body:

Language of the person: the language a person uses when writing for publication, broadcasting, etc.

Language of the corporate body: a language a corporate body uses in its communications.

INPUT CONVENTIONS

Subfield $a is repeatable to allow the recording of multiple languages associated with a person or a corporate body. Field 377 is repeatable to allow the recording of languages from different sources (e.g. MARC language codes, ISO639-3, etc.). Field 377 has been modelled on bibliographic field 041 for consistency.
