1 – A, C. and D; 2 – A and C, the holdings record can be linked to or embedded in the bibliographic record or both; 3 – C; 4 – B; 5 – D, the pattern indicates the frequency of a publication that an automated claiming system needs so it can tell when something is overdue for receipt; 6 – B, the enumeration, along with the chronology, can be either compressed or itemized; 7 – A and B, levels 3 and 4 are distinguished by fields that carry extent of holdings for multipart items; 8 – D, only Level 4 itemizes the extent of holdings information; 9 – B, textual holdings can optionally be used in addition to or instead of coded holdings, however, if only textual holdings are used, many automated functions such as serials check-in and claiming cannot be used; 10 – C, the caption field is paired with the enumeration and chronology fields to add labels to the data in those fields when displayed.
