DEFINITION AND SCOPE
Fields 500-587 contain textual notes. Each note is entered in a separate 5XX field.
General notes are recorded in field 500 (General Note). Information that appears in the
notes area on printed output or on machine display is not always recorded in a specially
defined 5XX note field. Data is sometimes carried in a structured form in another field
(e.g., field 307 (Hours, Etc.)).
Specialized notes are contained in fields 501-587. Some of the fields that contain
information that are grouped with 5XX note fields in displays and on printed products
are listed below.
