Speaker Biography: Shenaz Patel is a Mauritian fiction writer and playwright. She has written four novels, including Le Silence des Chagos, as well as numerous plays and short stories in both French and Mauritian Créole. Her honors include the Prix Radio France du Livre de l'Océan Indien, the Prix du Roman Francophonee, and the Prix Soroptimist de la Romancière francophone. As a working journalist, Patel writes about social and cultural issues, often seeking to unearth the unsaid and untold.
