MARC 21 Format 2009 Changes to Accommodate RDA (Draft)

This document lists MARC 21 format changes that have been approved to accommodate Resource Description and Access (RDA) since the 2008 Update (No. 9) to MARC 21.   The draft additions to the Bibliographic, Authority, and Holdings formats are linked to this page.  This document is intended to facilitate experimentation by providing information that will be published in the 2009 (No. 10) format update.

There are two possible changes to these draft fields that should be noted.  The 62X fields approved for the Authority format could be retagged as 32X fields as part of Discussion Paper No. 2009-DP06/3 that is being considered in July 2009.

These fields indicate a new $1 proposed subfield for value URIs.  That subfield has not yet been approved but it is under consideration at the July 2009 meetings as Discussion Paper No. 2009-DP06/1.
